Western Australia

The flag of Western Australia (a state within Australia) comprises a Blue Ensign with the state's emblem, a black swan, positioned within a yellow circle on the fly side of the flag. The flag of Western Australia was officially adopted on 3 November 1953, replacing a previous similar version of the flag which had the black swan's head pointing towards the fly side of the flag (the black swan's head now faces towards the hoist side of the flag). The ratio of the flag of Western Australia is 1:2.

The black swan is a native bird of the state of Western Australia and has been associated with Western Australia's state capital of Perth since its founding by the British as the Swan River Colony in June 1829.

When flown alongside the Australian national flag and the flags of the other five Australian states, the flag of Western Australia is sixth in order of precedence (this is due to its position on the Commonwealth Coat of Arms).
