The flag of The Gambia is a horizontal tricolour featuring the colours (from the top of the flag to the bottom of the flag) red, blue and green, with two narrow white lines separating each band of the flag. The flag's colours are said to symbolise the River Gambia (blue) flowing between the savannah (red) and the forest (blue).
The flag of The Gambia was officially adopted on 18 February 1965 upon the country gaining its independence from Britain. The flag was designed by Louis Thomasi.
The flag's ratio is 2:3.
