The flag of Sri Lanka is set on a yellow field with two panels - the panel on the hoist side of the flag has two vertical bands of green (closest to the hoist side of the flag) and orange, the panel on the fly side of the flag is a larger red panel inside which sits a yellow lion holding a kastane sword, with yellow bo leaves in each corner.
The flag of Sri Lanka was officially adopted on 22 May 1972. The flag of Sri Lanka is sometimes referred to as the 'Sinha flag' or the 'Lion flag'.
The flag's ratio is 1:2.
