Spain Basque Country

This Spain Basque Country flag is the official flag of the Basque Country Autonomous Community of Spain. The Basque Country flag comprises a white cross over a green saltire on a red field and is based on the Union Jack flag. The flag is sometimes referred to as the 'Ikurrina flag'.

The Basque Country flag was designed by Basque Nationalist Party founders Luis Arana and Sabino Arana. The flag had been around for nearly a century in various capacities before being adopted as the official flag of the Basque Country Autonomous Community in 1979.
