The flag of the Solomon Islands comprises a yellow stripe dividing the flag diagonally from the lower hoist corner to the upper fly corner - the upper triangle is blue whilst the lower triangle is green. Inside the blue triangle sit five white five-pointed stars.
The flag's colours of yellow, blue and green are said to represent the sun, the water and the land respectively. The flag's five stars were originally supposed to represent the five provinces which made up the Solomon Islands; however, with new provinces since added, the five stars are now said to represent the five main island groups which make up the Solomon Islands.
The flag of the Solomon Islands was officially adopted on 18 November 1977 just prior to the country gaining its independence.
The flag's ratio is 1:2.
