The flag of Rwanda is a horizontal tricolour featuring the colours (from the top of the flag to the bottom of the flag) light blue (double width), yellow and green. In the upper fly corner of the flag is a yellow radiating sun. The flag's colours of light blue, yellow and green are said to represent happiness and peace, economic growth and future prosperity respectively whilst the yellow radiating sun is said to symbolise enlightenment.
The flag of Rwanda was officially adopted on 25 October 2001 as part of a redesign of all national symbols in Rwanda. The flag was designed by Alphonse Kirimobenecyo
