The Romani People are an ethnic group living mostly in Europe and the Americas who originated in the northwestern region of India.
The flag of the Romani People was approved by representatives of various Romani communities at the first World Romani Congress held in Orpington, England in 1971. The Romani People flag consists of a horizontal bicolour of (from the top of the flag to the bottom of the flag) blue and green, representing the heavens and the earth respectively. In the centre of the flag is a 16 spoked red chakra, a clear nod to the Indian flag.
