The flag of Paraguay comprises a horizontal tricolour of (from the top of the flag to the bottom of the flag) red, white and blue. The flag of Paraguay has a separate emblem at its centre on each side - the national arms on the front and the Treasury Seal on the back. The flag was officially adopted on 25 November 1842. The red, white and blue colouring of the flag of Paraguay is influenced by the French flag, often seen as a symbol of independence and liberation. The flag's ratio is 11:20.
