The flag of Palau is set on a light blue background and features a large yellow disk set slightly off centre to the hoist side of the flag.
The flag's colour of light blue is variously said to represent the Pacific Ocean surrounding Palau as well as Palau's transition from foreign control to self government. The flag's yellow disk represents the full moon (the full moon in Palau is celebrated and considered the ideal time for farming, fishing, etc).
The flag of Palau was officially adopted on 1 January 1981 after Palau became a Republic. The flag was designed by Blau J. Skebong.
The flag's ratio is 5:8.
