The flag of Oman consists of a horizontal tricolour of (from the top of the flag to the bottom of the flag) white, red and green, with a vertical red stripe at the hoist of the flag featuring Oman's national emblem sitting in the canton.
Up until 1975, Oman's flag was plain red. Upon becoming Sultan in 1970, Qaboos bin Said introduced a new flag. This flag was similar to the current flag of Oman but with a slimmer red middle band. The current flag of Oman was officially adopted on 25 April 1995.
The flag's ratio is 1:2.
