The flag of Mozambique is a horizontal tricolour featuring the colours (from the top of the flag to the bottom of the flag) green, black and yellow, each separated by white fimbriations. At the hoist of the flag is a red triangle inside which sits the national emblem of Mozambique. The flag's colours are derived from the flag of the Mozambican Liberation Front which led Mozambique to its independence from Portugal in 1975.
The original flag of Mozambique used the same colours and emblem but in a different design. The present design was officially adopted on 1 May 1983.
The flag's ratio is 2:3.
