This Malawi 2010-2012 flag was a short lived modification of the Malawi national flag. The flag is a horizontal tricolour featuring (from the top of the flag to the bottom of the flag) the colours red, black and green. A white rising sun or 'kwacha' sits at the centre of the flag with 45 rays representing the economic progress Malawi had made since independence. The flag is similar in design to the previous and current flag of Malawi; however, due to public outcry, the flag of Malawi reverted to its previous design in 2012.
