The flag of Kosovo is set on a blue field and features a golden outline of Kosovo with six white five-pointed stars above it.
The flag of Kosovo was officially adopted on 17 February 2008 following Kosovo declaring its independence (it had previously been under United Nations administration).
The flag of Kosovo emerged from a flag design competition won by Muhamer Ibrahimi. The flag's blue and yellow colours mirror the colour of the European Union flag whilst its six stars stand for the six ethnic communities in Kosovo - the Albanians, the Serbs, the Bosniaks, the Turks, the Romani and the Gorani.
