The flag of Guinea-Bissau is a horizontal bicolour of (from the top of the flag to the bottom of the flag) yellow and green, with a red vertical stripe at the hoist of the flag inside which sits a black five-pointed star. The flag's colours are those of the Pan-African colours whilst the flag's black star is influenced by the flag of Ghana.
The flag of Guinea-Bissau was officially adopted on 24 September 1973 following the country gaining its independence from Portugal.
