The flag of Gibraltar comprises horizontal bands of white (top of the flag, double width) and red (bottom of the flag) with a red castle at the centre of the white band upon which a gold key dangles beneath into the red band. The flag of Gibraltar is based on its coat of arms and was officially adopted on 8 November 1982.
The flag's ratio is 1:2.
