This France Corsica flag is the official flag of the French region of Corsica. The flag is set on a white background and features a Moor's head in black wearing a white bandana.
The flag of Corsica was originally adopted by General of the Nation Pasquale Paoli in 1755. The design was based on a flag previously used in Corsica (on this flag design, the bandana covered the Moor's eyes - Paoli wanted the bandana moved to symbolise the liberation of Corsica from the Genoese). The flag eventually fell out of use before being officially re-adopted as the region's flag in 1980.
