Texas flag

The flag of Texas features a blue vertical rectangle on the hoist side of the flag, inside which sits a white five pointed star. On the fly side of the flag are horizontal rectangles of white and red on the top and the bottom of the flag respectively. The flag of Texas is often referred to as the 'Lone Star Flag', referencing the flag's prominent lone star. This has resulted in the state of Texas itself being referred to as the 'Lone Star State'. This flag was officially adopted on 25 January 1839 and retained after Texas joined the Union in 1845. The flag's ratio is 2:3.
