The flag of Eritrea contains a red triangle at the hoist of the flag which divides the flag's fly side into two triangles - the upper triangle being green and the lower triangle being blue. At the centre of the red triangle is an emblem consisting of a yellow olive branch surrounded by a wreath of olive leaves.
The flag of Eritrea was adopted on 24 May 1993 following the country gaining its independence. The flag is the same in design as the flag of the Eritrean People's Liberation Front (a group which campaigned for Eritrean independence) except it contains an emblem instead of a star.
The flag's ratio is 2:3.
