The flag of Djibouti features two horizontal bands of light blue (top of the flag) and green (bottom of the flag) with a white triangle at the hoist, inside which sits a red five-pointed star. The flag borrows its colours from the flag of the Ligue Populaire Africaine pour I'Independance, which led Djibouti to independence. The flag's blue colour represents the Issa people whilst its green colour represents the Afar people. The flag's red star stands for unity.
The flag of Djibouti was officially adopted on 27 June 1977 upon the country gaining its independence from France.
