The flag of Macau comprises a peacock green field with a lotus flower sitting above a stylised depiction of the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge in white, above which sit five five-pointed yellow stars in an arch formation (the star at the centre of the formation is larger than those either side of it). The lotus flower appears in the flag of Macau as it is the floral emblem of the region whilst the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge is a prominent landmark in Macau. The flag's five stars mirror the flag of China, of which Macau is part of as the Macau Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.
The flag of Macau was officially adopted on 20 December 1999 following the transfer of sovereignty over the region from Portugal to China.
The flag of Macau was designed by Zhang Lei and Xiao Hong. The flag's ratio is 2:3.
