British Indian Ocean Territory flag
The flag of the British Indian Ocean Territory comprises a blue ensign with seven white wavy horizontal stripes. The flag features the Union Jack in its canton as well as a palm tree with a crown over the top of it in the fly of the flag. The flag's wavy stripes represent the Indian Ocean surrounding the territory, the palm tree symbolises natural vegetation of the islands whilst the Union Jack and crown both acknowledge British possession of the territory.
The flag of the British Indian Ocean Territory was officially adopted on 8 November 1990.
