The flag of Belarus is a vertical bicolour with the colours (from the top of the flag to the bottom of the flag) red (double width) and green. At the hoist of the flag is a vertical white stripe with a red ornamental pattern.
The flag of Belarus was officially adopted on 7 June 1995 following a referendum. The flag is similar to that of the 1951 Soviet era flag, minus the Communist symbols of the hammer, sickle and star and with the red and white portions of the ornamental pattern reversed.
The flag's ratio is 1:2.
