The flag of Albania comprises a red field with a silhouetted black doubled-headed eagle at its centre. The flag is sometimes referred to as 'Flamuri Kombetar'.
The flag of Albania's colour of red is said to represent bravery, strength, valour and bloodshed whilst the doubled-headed eagle has historically been used as a symbol of Albanian nationalism.
The flag of Albania was officially adopted in 1912 following the country gaining its independence from the Ottoman Empire. The flag was designed by Albanian artist Sadik Kaceli.
