Niue flag

The flag of Niue is set on a yellow field and features the Union Jack in its canton. The Union Jack is defaced by two yellow five-pointed stars on its vertical stripe and two yellow five-pointed stars on its horizontal stripe, as well as a blue disc in its centre with another yellow five-pointed star.

The Niue Flag Act 1975 sets out the symbolism of the flag - the Union Jack represents the protection granted to Niue by the United Kindom, the colour yellow symbolises the bright sunshine of Niue and the warm feelings of the people of Niue towards New Zealand, the four small stars are a reference to the Southern Cross constellation that appears on the flag of New Zealand, and the blue disc at the centre of the Union Jack represents the deep blue sea surrounding Niue.

The flag of Niue was officially adopted on 15 October 1975. The flag was designed by Patricia Rex, the wife of Robert Rex, Premier of Niue at the time.

The flag's ratio is 1:2.
