Northern Cyprus flag

The flag of Northern Cyprus is set on a white background with a red star and red crescent moon at the flag's centre (the star is closest to the fly side of the flag) as well as two horizontal red stripes set towards the top and bottom of the flag. The flag is similar to that of Turkey only with the colours reversed and the two stripes added. The flag was adopted on 7 March 1984 following Northern Cyprus' declaration of independence from Cyprus in 1983, a declaration only recognised by Turkey. The flag was designed by Turkish Cypriot artist Emin Cizenel.

The flag's ratio is 2:3.
