Cook Islands

The flag of the Cook Islands is set on a blue field and features the Union Jack in its canton and fifteen five-pointed white stars arranged in a circular formation in its fly.

The flag's Union Jack represents the historic ties of the Cook Islands to the Commonwealth whilst the fifteen stars each represent one of the fifteen main islands that comprise the Cook Islands - Tongareva, Manihiki, Nassau, Rakahanga, Pukapuka, Suwarrow, Atiu, Palmerston, Mauke, AMitiaro, Aitutaki, Manuae, Mangaia, Rarotonga and Takutea. The fifteen stars are arranged on the flag in a circular formation to symbolise that each island is of equal importance.

The current flag of the Cook Islands was officially adopted on 4 August 1979.
