Central African Republic flag

The flag of the Central African Republic comprises four horizontal stripes of (from the top of the flag to the bottom of the flag) blue, white, green and yellow, with a red vertical stripe through the centre of the flag. In the upper hoist corner of the flag sits a yellow five-pointed star.

As a former French colony, the colours of the Central African Republic flag include both the Pan-African colours (red, yellow and green) and the colours of the French flag (red, white and blue). The flag was designed by Barthelemy Boganda, the first president of the Central African Republic.

The flag of the Central African Republic was officially adopted on 1 December 1958 following independence from France.
