Christmas is observed on the 25 December each year.It commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ. In Australia and many other countries Christmas Day is a public holiday.
The actual birth of Jesus Christ is unknown, the date was decided on by the church early in the fourth century, the date coincides with the northern hemisphere's winter solstice.
